june 15th, 2012

birthday weekend in NOLA was a success, despite the downpours,  hot/humid weather, and the usual travel troubles. the city is so full of life but still seeing the effects from Hurricane Katrina. it’s an interesting mix of people, things to-do, history, culture and of course food!

{ I was teased at the miami airport with rows and rows of french macarons…and no one to sell them to me. finally got some at a popular NOLA bakery called sucre on magazine street }

{ we got caught in a crazy rainstorm. attorney john fox was our shelter savior }

{ there are antique stores galore in the french quarter  and on royal street…the hubs and I found some amazing bar sets and I could’ve stared at the ceiling for hours on end }

{ i’m now wholeheartedly obsessed with abita’s seasonal strawberry beer. it’s like pete’s wicked strawberry blonde’s better looking older brother. }

{ bourbon street…doesn’t matter whether it was Saturday or Tuesday, it’s always busy.  I particularly loved our beers from the alley “bar” }

{ oysters at arnauds followed by a tour of their mardi gras museum and private rooms used during prohibition. pretty cool stories about locked rooms and “coffee” being served. }

{ my greatest fear is the depths of the ocean and what lies within them. whales are not my friends. this mural in front of the aquarium scares me. }
