2012{ biking for a cause }
this weekend marks a special event in my family and the greater boston community: the pan mass challenge. put simply, the PMC is the most successful athletic fundraiser in the country, having raised more than $338 million over the past 32 years. every August, more than 5500 cyclists, 3000 volunteers and thousands of supporters across the state of massachusetts come together in the quest to cure cancer. cancer does touch everyone in some way and it’s touched my family, so much so that my cousin Billy Starr founded, and continues to steer, the pmc. for obvious reasons, the event is extra special to me. my family is split into the riders and the volunteers and both truly make the pmc what it is.
and so, I dedicate this bicycle-themed post to the 2012 PMC. this year’s goal is $36 million. we’ll achieve it. #LickCancer
